Have you ever heard of the Effort Paradox? It’s a phrase coined by researchers who study the brain. When we do something hard, our brain attaches more value to it than an “easier” version of the same thing. When that challenging thing is a movement exercise it can also increase neurotransmitters like dopamine, serotonin, and norepinephrine, while lowering stress hormones like cortisol and adrenaline.
Power Flow is our studio’s version of the Effort Paradox. It is challenging but so fun! The most dynamic, exacting Vinyasa style class the studio offers, it is there for the students who want to get THE MOST out of the time on their mats. Moving at a faster pace with a focus on complex poses and smooth, flowing transitions; this style will challenge the mind, body, and cardiovascular system. Within this creative sequence is the opportunity to explore arm balances, inversions, and how we “choose to arrive” as we move from one pose to another.
