My journey into yoga was definitely a drawn out introduction that I dabbled with occasionally. For years I had been lifting mainly, playing different sports, and sometimes a yoga class. I had been playing soccer weekly with my twin brother for around two years and I was constantly getting injured, my ankles felt like they were living in a constant state of sprain. My brother ended up tearing his ACL during a game and I decided I needed to do something where I wasn’t dealing with injuries constantly.
I found an unlimited weekly special at a studio near my house and ended up going 14 times that week. After that I jumped in head first and started to see the benefits of yoga in other aspects of my life I would never have expected. From a health perspective my body started to recover, my allergies weren’t as severe, and surprisingly I felt even stronger than I had lifting all the time. I also started to realize benefits in my work life feeling calmer and more accepting of things that happen, but above all the breathe work helped me to control anxiety and be more comfortable with who I am. Yoga has helped me and I hope to share that with my teaching.
