kari mcdonald

My name is Kari McDonald and I teach Vinyasa yoga. I have been interested in fitness, movement and body health for most of my life. I was introduced to yoga early on through a few classes here and there, but I didn’t begin my practice until 2020. From a young age I knew being active was good for my body. It just felt good to move. It wasn’t until much later I discovered I wasn’t always moving and working out in ways that supported my body long term. I was always sore and my growing lack of mobility was frustrating. When I started doing yoga on a regular basis, I realized that a workout doesn’t have to be harder, heavier and faster in order to be effective. Slowing down and being mindful of movement was not only changing me physically in ways I’d never experienced, it was changing my entire outlook on fitness, health and life. After 18 months of practicing at Horizon Hot Yoga, I decided to begin my yoga teaching journey and received my 200-hr teaching certification. I’ve gone on to add a Yin certification and a functional kettle bell training certification. I’m continually searching for new ways to broaden my knowledge of fitness and movement because I truly believe movement is a gift that should be celebrated.
